Turn anything life gives you into writing

Shit happens.

Things come at you every day—things you have no power to change.

You have two choices: you can get upset about them (react) or you can write about them (respond).

This is what carried me through the darkest times in my life. No matter what happened, and no matter how horrible it was, I'd sit down and write it all out. I'd write out how I felt, and then I'd be calm again. It was like getting a hold of my power—the power to make stories. And it felt freeing. It felt like nothing could ever sway me from the path I'd chosen in life.

This is what will carry you through. And at the same time it'll sharpen your skill and improve your craft. From this day on know that anything, and I mean ANYTHING that life throws at you is material for writing. So the nastiest things become an inspiration, and all of a sudden you have a huge smile on your face because nothing at all can be negative. Nothing can drag you down. Everything will only move you forward toward your goal.

Isn't it uplifting? Fulfilling? Freeing?

Seriously. Writing is the best job in the world.
