Take your fear with you like an ugly purse
It's what I tell myself when it gets tough, when I'm so scared to move forward, I can't write down a single word and sit there, paralyzed, staring at the screen.
As soon as I recognize it's the fear that's stopping me, I tell my fear, "Hello, Fear. Nice of you to visit me again. How goes it?"
My Fear, of course, only hisses back at me, and tightens the screws in my stomach.
So I tell my Fear, "You can stick around all you want. I'm taking you with me and I'M MOVING FORWARD. You're like my ugly purse. You go where I go. And you can't stop me."
After I say this, my Fear gets so offended, it shuts up for a moment, and I start writing. With it hanging on my shoulder like the ugly purse it is.
This is how you don't let your Fear stop you. Tell your Fear who's the Boss! It can piss and moan all it wants. It won't stop you from writing.
